On September 16, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted an event to mark the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year and celebrate "Knowledge Day."
The event commenced with participants laying a wreath at the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Following the national anthem of Azerbaijan, a moment of silence was observed in honor of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
In his opening remarks, ASOIU's Acting Rector, Associate Professor Vazeh Asgarov, extended his congratulations to the students and faculty on the occasion of "Knowledge Day" and wished them success in the new academic year. He noted that the 2024/2025 academic year marks the university's 105th intake, with over 5,500 students admitted. Assoc. Prof. Vazeh Asgarov highlighted that this year's intake not only increased in numbers but also in quality, with a significant rise in the average entrance scores compared to previous years. He emphasized the university's commitment to providing a high-level academic environment and ensuring that students are well-equipped to become highly skilled professionals.
Azer Suleymanov, Chairman of the Nasimi District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, spoke about the significant role ASOIU plays in training engineers for the oil and gas sectors, as well as other industries, and congratulated the students on joining such a prestigious institution.
Vugar Rahimzade, Chairman of the Khatai District Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party and an ASOIU alumnus, also congratulated the students and faculty, wishing them success in their academic journey. He spoke about President Ilham Aliyev's continued focus on education and emphasized the important responsibility on youth to contribute to Azerbaijan's development.
During the event, first-year bachelor and master students with the highest entrance scores in their respective faculties were awarded. ASOIU’s Acting Rector Vazeh Asgarov presented special gifts to the top three students with the highest overall scores.
The ceremony concluded with a performance by ASOIU’s “Ganjlik” Song and Dance Ensemble, followed by a musical performance by one of the students.
