Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) has achieved significant progress in the prestigious “GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025”. Thus, by rising 166 positions in the global ranking, ASOIU has become one of the most dynamically developing universities among both local and international higher education institutions.
According to the new results announced by the agency, ASOIU collected a score of 6457.5 in 2025 (compared to 5640 points last year), rising from the 788th position to the 622nd position. This success is an indicator of the university's consistent activities in the fields of environmental responsibility, efficient resource management, and sustainable academic development.
This noted rise is related to the strengthening of the governance structure, the improvement of environmental impact monitoring, the increase of resource efficiency, and the expansion of education opportunities concerning sustainability.
The largest development observed in the transition from 2024 to 2025 was in the field of Water Conservation, with this indicator increasing by 46.88%, showing the highest result among all sustainability indicators. This increase demonstrates a significant improvement in water management, efficiency measures, and water conservation mechanisms within the university.
The second largest increase was observed in the field of Energy and Climate Action, with a rise of 32.08% recorded in this direction. This achievement confirms the improvement of overall environmental indicators as a result of strengthening energy efficiency initiatives, expanding renewable transition measures, and implementing climate-focused policies.
These achievements once again demonstrate ASOIU's commitment to continuous environmental responsibility. In the next phase, the focus will be directed toward a broader implementation of sustainable design, increasing renewable energy integration, expanding research potential, enhancing data transparency, and accelerating “zero-waste” strategies.
Based on the current results, we note that ASOIU is determined to rise even further in the global sustainability landscape.
