ASOIU ranks highly in two subjects in the QS 2026 subject rankings

The “Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)” ranking agency has published the 2026 edition of its subject rankings of the world’s best universities. The Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) has been included in the global rankings in two subject areas in the QS 2026 results, one of the most prestigious higher education ranking systems worldwide.

According to the results, ASOIU ranked 101–150 in Petroleum Engineering and 451–500 in Computer Science and Information Systems.

In the 2026 edition, more than 6,200 higher education institutions worldwide were analyzed, of which 1,912 universities were ranked across 55 subject areas.

The results demonstrate that the university’s academic potential and research activity, particularly in engineering and technology, are recognized at the international level.

The position achieved in petroleum engineering shows that this field remains one of the university’s key strengths in global rankings. It should also be noted that ASOIU was included in the QS subject rankings for petroleum engineering in 2024 as well, confirming the continuity of its performance in this area.

In the field of computer science, significant growth in research output has been observed in recent years. Between 2020 and 2024, ASOIU researchers published over 500 scientific papers, which received thousands of citations. In total, 356 authors contributed to this research, with an average of more than 5 citations per paper.

It should be noted that the QS rankings evaluate universities based on indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, H-index, and international research collaboration.
